This article outlines if you can drive in New Zealand with your licence?

You will be allowed to use the vehicles as long you have or meet the minimum conditions of that vehicle's class under a Full NZ License. Our team will check this during the driver's licence validations. For a car, this would be a Class 1 licence.

An example of a driver that has fully qualified in at least one class of licence.

Licence types, such as "Restricted - R", may be considered, whilst "Learner - L", "Limited", "Alcohol Interlock" and "Zero Alcohol" won't be accepted.

Do you need an international driver's licence to visit New Zealand and rent a vehicle?

You can legally drive in New Zealand for up to 12 months if you have a current driver’s licence. If the licence is not in English, you must carry an accurate English translation.
